team (noun)
1. a group of players forming one side in a competitive game or sport.
team (verb)
1. come together as a team to achieve a common goal.
2. match or coordinate a garment with (another).
Google definition is great for either the noun or the verb. Is there any sport in history as competitive as business? Is there any better way of defining a business than “a group of players forming one side”? You could apply both of those to almost any business and it would work superbly. “A group of players (business) forming one side (their unique offering) in a competitive game or sport (the marketplace).
For our needs the verb is a little closer to home though. “Come together as a team to achieve a common goal”. This speaks very well to Team Development. Back to the original question.
Team Development assists a team in coming together better as a cohesive team focused on a unifying vision to achieve a common goal or goals.
Simplicity and Harmony – An easy to communicate and unifying vision will unite the team and allow for the trust, healthy discussions, and accountability.
Clarity and Growth – Different people offer different perspectives and different strengths. With many perspectives, and strengths you will achieve clarity. Once you achieve Clarity you are ready for Growth.
