Executive Coaching

What is Executive Coaching?

If you opened a dictionary to Executive Coaching it would read like this “Executive Coaching is a professional relationship between a trained coach and a client (who may be an individual or a group) with the goal to enhance the client’s leadership or management performance and development.”  What is missing from that definition is, it does not explain how Executive coaching can help me, an executive who wants to grow, get clarity, and be more successful.  So let’s go a bit deeper.

If you have ever heard the expression “What got you here won’t get you there” that expression is a really good explanation of executive coaching.  Executives are typically very smart, driven, and successful people.  Executives are usually good leaders as well.  Quite frankly, that is what got them to where they are today.  But that usually comes with a Blind Spot.  The blind spot of success is if you have been successful doing what you have been doing then it must work to get you to where you want to go in the future.  Right?  Not necessarily.

What does an Executive Coach do?

Executive Coaching is really best served along with a Peer to Peer Advisory Group, as they complement each other well and both meetings – Executive Coaching Meeting and a Peer to Peer Advisory meeting accomplish different goals.  An Executive Coach works with the Executive to establish clear goals for him or herself, for the team, or for the organization.  The goals can be revenue based, human capital based, or behavior based.  Over a period of time steps to those goals will be identified and a path to the goal will be agreed and started upon.  Holding the executive accountable to get to the goal is a large part of what an Executive Coach does.  For more on Peer to Peer Advisory Groups click here.

Another big job of an Executive Coach is to be a sounding board or for the Executive to get a different perspective.  This can come in a one on one session or in a Peer Advisory Group (link).  Our perspectives are reality to us and sometimes our reality may be different than what will get us to Growth, Clarity and Success.  Another perspective or many other perspectives from a peer advisory group rounds out a single perspective and helps get to better decisions.  It eliminates blind spots.

It is lonely at the top, an Executive Coach or a Peer Advisory Group – or both, can put Executives, their companies, and their teams on a fast track to growth and success.

What is an Executive Coach?

An Executive Coach is someone who has been successful in business in the past through either owning their own company or working on a C level in another company – or both!  Executive coaches are also trained in the mechanics and dynamics of Executive Coaching.  Executive Coaches are excellent listeners, reflective, caring, Stellar question-askers, and a guiding light on your path to your goals.  Executive Coaches at Simcordia are passionately driven by your Growth and Harmony for you and your company.

Why would an Executive need an Executive Coach?

The dynamics of the world, economy, people, and leadership are ever changing.  What worked yesterday to get to success may not work today, or it may not work as well as it has in the past.  An Executive Coach will help an Executive see what needs to be done to achieve growth, clarity, and success.  Those three words – Growth, Clarity, and Success can mean different things to different Executives.  Growth, Clarity, and Success can mean revenue, process improvement, leadership development, strategic planning, marketing, behavioral issues that hold the team or the executive back, better communication, accountability, or a host of other items that can be improved on.  An Executive Coach can help an executive get themselves and their team to the Growth and Harmony that everyone is looking for.
